Not long ago, Tyler, The Creator was asked to participate in a conversation hosted by Converse. While discussing his music, he made a few impactful statements regarding the continued promotion of one’s work.
“[There’s] something I’m noticing. The generation right under me is…I don’t know if they’re too cool, they don’t want to look thirsty or they’re not proud of their sh*t, but [they’re not promoting their work long-term],” Tyler, The Creator said.
“You went through something. You wrote words down. You figured it out in a structural format. You found music to go along with it. You recorded it. Most of the time, you don’t do it in one take. You go back and forth. You fix some parts. You get some parts replayed. You edit it. You mix it. [You get] sample clearances [and] pay for mixes. They go pay some kid to do the album cover. It’s a whole thing and you mean to tell me that you’re going to be passive with your own sh*t and just put it on your story once. Are you f*cking crazy, bro? I’m still promoting my album that came out in June. It’s a year out and I’m still out here.”
Nearly two years have passed and Tyler, The Creator is still promoting the aforementioned album, Call Me If You Get Lost. This Friday, the California native is unveiling Call Me If You Get Lost: The Estate Sale. The expanded project will feature “a collection of songs that didn’t make the original album.” For those looking to hear more of what he was cooking up back in 2021, check out the new project below.
