Herro’s victory, with a total of 488 voting points, was very close to being unanimous receiving 96 first-place votes out of a 100. Kevin Love, who finished second with 214 points, received three first-place votes and Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson had the last first-place vote.
The 13th pick overall in the 2019 NBA Draft led all eligible players in scoring with 20.8 points per game as a reserve. He joins Thurl Bailey (1987-88), Eddie Johnson (1988-89), Ricky Pierce (1989-90, 1990-91), and Lou Williams (2017-18, 2018-19) as the only players that have averaged at least 20 points per game off the bench.
In addition, he contributed with five rebounds and four assists per game while shooting close to 40 percent on three-point attempts.
In the upcoming days, the league will present the last two awards left: Coach of the Year and Most Valuable Player.
