On Friday, January 24, 2025, Donald Trump is expected to visit Los Angeles, California and survey the damage caused by a series of wildfires in the area. Thus far, fires throughout Los Angeles County have consumed more than 10,000 homes and taken more than two dozen lives. Authorities in the area have reportedly issued “Red Flag” warnings as “dangerous fire weather conditions” consisting of “low humidity and the return of very strong winds” are expected through Tuesday, January 21 at 10 a.m. PST.
Governor Gavin Newsom, who has been at odds with the Trump in the past, learned of Trump’s impending visit and said he’s “ready to work” with the incoming administration to create pathways of relief for those impacted.
“I look forward to President Trump’s visit to Los Angeles and his mobilization of the full weight of the federal government to help our fellow Americans recover and rebuild,” Newsom stated.
“Where our shared principles are aligned, my administration stands ready to work with the Trump-Vance administration to deliver solutions and serve the nearly 40 million Californians we jointly represent.”
Trump also says he’s ready to help survivors of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina get “rocking and rolling” after the natural disaster took more than 100 lives last fall. However, Trump did not specifically specify what his relief plans entail.
