Paramount is putting its gift under the tree a bit early this year. The film studio has made plans to bring Top Gun: Maverick back to theaters from December 2, 2022 through December 15, 2022.
“This feels like the perfect time to bring Top Gun: Maverick back to theaters so audiences everywhere can once again experience how special this film is,” Paramount Domestic Distribution President Chris Aronson told Variety.
It is no surprise that Paramount would make an effort to bring its Tom Cruise-led blockbuster back to theaters. By all metrics, the highly-anticipated sequel was a success with critics and moviegoers. The film brought in $1.48 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing movie of the year. Furthermore, it generated $716 million in North America, making it the fifth-highest grossing movie in North American history.
“This feels like the perfect time to bring Top Gun: Maverick back to theaters so audiences everywhere can once again experience how special this film is,” Aronson added, per Variety.
Paramount’s major hit will return alongside fellow blockbusters, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Avatar: The Way of Water. Brendan Fraser’s The Whale, Will Smith’s Emancipation, Naomi Ackie’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Margot Robbie’s Babylon will also debut in theaters.
