Tom Holland may return to the silver screen and reprise his role as Peter Parker, better known as Spider-Man. However, he says that he’ll only pick up the red and blue suit again if it does “justice to the character.”
“All I can say is that we have been actively engaging in conversations about what it could potentially look like for a fourth rendition of my character,” he told Collider.
“Whether or not we can find a way to do justice to the character is another thing.”
Holland is the latest in a long line of actors to play the role of Peter Parker, but he holds the distinction of being the youngest actor to play a title role in a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film. In three standalone Spider-Man movies, he’s helped gross nearly $4 billion at the box office. Not to mention, he’s played the role of Spider-Man in three other MCU films, including Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Captain America: Civil War. Through his success as Peter Park, Holland has become “protective” of the role and all that it entails.
“I feel very protective over Spider-Man. I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy,” Holland continued.
“So, I won’t make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character.”
