New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin has decided to step down from his role with the team. The Giants have not gone to the playoffs since they won the Super Bowl in 2011 and they haven’t had a winning season since 2012. Still, the Giants organization, under the tutelage of Coughlin, won two Super Bowls against their dreaded Coughlin-era rivals, the New England Patriots.
Yet despite the winning past and influence he had on the soon-to-be hall of fame career of quarterback Eli Manning, the Giants and Coughlin seemed to come to some sort of an agreement. Coughlin will be stepping down.

Despite Coughlin’s advanced age of 69, turing 70 before the season starts, it appears that Coughlin isn’t done with the NFL quite yet.

Coughlin has a 170-150 record in 20 seasons as a coach of both the Giants and Jacksonville Jaguars and has a pair of Super Bowl championships on his resume so he might get someone to bite and give him a shot to coach a team not on a rebuilding path.
