In the midst of the pandemic, Tiwa Savage ended a three-year layoff by delivering her third studio album, Celia. Created as a tribute to her mother, the album displayed a gumbo of R&B and afrobeat. Ultimately, the project garnered more than 20 million streams and set her up for commercial success in 2021. As the year comes to a rapid close, the Motown artist has delivered a new EP.
Tonight is certainly a good night for music and Tiwa Savage’s newest EP, Water & Garri, is certainly a big reason why. Not only does the Nigerian singer-songwriter shine throughout the five-track project, but she also pulls in features from legends like Nas and Brandy. Adding on, Rich King, Amaarae and Tay Iwar also make contributions to the project. Much like Celia, the project brings together a number of genres like Pop, Afrobeat, R&B and Soul as she paints a picture of her life at the current moment.
On a night when Lucky Daye collaborates with Earth, Wind and Fire and Aaliyah’s One In A Million returns to streaming platforms, it’s impossible for R&B to lose. Check out Tiwa Savage’s Water & Garri below.
