Last Summer, Kevin Garnett returned to the Minnesota Timberwolves on a 2-year deal. However, it remained a bit of a mystery wether he would play out the second year of that deal or retire. After all, Garnett has had a very, very long career. The 39-year-old big man has played more minutes than anybody in NBA history not named Kareem Abdul-Jabbar or Karl Malone. Nevertheless, Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor is optimistic that Garnett will return. From Darren Wolfson of KSTP:
Spoke w/ Glen Taylor yesterday. On KG's future: "You'd have to ask him, but from everything he's told me, he wants to be (back)." #twolves

This comes as a bit of a surprise, as Garnett has played less than 600 total minutes this season. However, Garnett’s role is one of a mentor, not a game-changing player. A player with as much experience as he has is a hugely valuable asset, particularly for a team with as much young talent as the Timberwolves. Karl-Anthony Towns especially is incredibly lucky to have Garnett there to show him the ropes.
