Hulu held its annual presentation to its ad buyers this week. The streaming service announced on Wednesday that the Emmy Award-winning drama The Handmaid’s Tale has been renewed for a third season as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
While the exact viewership numbers are unknown to the public, Hulu claims that the series doubled its viewers from the first season with the season 2 premiere last week. The series was the first streaming-exclusive to win the Emmy for Best Dram and also won a Golden Globe. Overall, the series has won more than 30 awards to date, making it a lock for renewal for as long as possible.
The announcement comes after Hulu signed the show’s creator, Bruce Miller, to an overall deal will the streamer.
Hulu’s drama lineup is rounded out by Castle Rock, Catch-22 starring George Clooney, The First starring Sean Penn, and Kerry Washington’s Little Fires Everywhere. The streamer also announced the series pick up of Remy and Four Weddings and a Funeral from Mindy Kaling.
