It’s been a minute since we last received a new installment of Tha Carter series. In fact, it’s been six years. However, that all changed when Lil’ Wayne dropped Tha Carter V. After years of waiting, fans got a complete project with features from Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott and many more. Not to mention, the project also had production from Mannie Fresh, Swizz Beatz and a few others. Given the love and admiration so many have had for Wayne over the years, it only makes sense that the world of Hip-Hop rallied around the much anticipated project. Records like “Uproar” and “Mona Lisa” have gone on to take on lives of their own and Wayne is taking his victory lap before making his next move.
In its first week, Wayne’s Tha Carter V set the standard by moving 480,000 units in its first week. Thanks to his continued success, his new project is officially eligible for platinum status. The Louisiana rapper and icon took to Instagram today to celebrate the news. He had one message in mind for his fans and that was to say, “Thank You!” Wayne has truly endured a lot recently in his career and has managed to stick around no matter what. Only time will tell what Wayne’s next move is, but in the meantime let’s celebrate this great accomplishment.
