Houston played host for the final Team USA showcase exhibition game. While a bunch of talk before the game was centered around Draymond Green and his actions during Team USA’s flight to Houston, when it came to the game all the focus was on the United States and Nigeria.
Team USA has blown out every opponent they’ve faced to this point. Argentina didn’t stand a chance to start the exhibition tour, China was decimated not once but twice and Venezuela fought but they couldn’t score on the United States.
For Nigeria, they were without two of their best players, Portland Trail Blazers teammates Festus Ezeli and Al-Farqou Aminu so going into the game, there wasn’t a ton of optimism for a chance to pull an upset. When all was said and done, Team USA came away with a 110-66 victory.
The oldest, sometimes grumpiest, member of Team USA, Carmelo Anthony, led the way for the squad scoring 19 points on the night. Klay Thompson came off the bench to score 17 and DeMar DeRozan also joined him in a reserve role, scoring 13 points of his own. Kevin Durant dropped 14 points starting alongside Carmelo Anthony.
Chamberlain Oguchi scored 21 points for Nigeria while former NBA player Benjamin Uzoh scored 10 points and had a pretty strong dunk early in the game.
