
Clifford “T.I.” Harris has earned a recurring role in the next installment of the National Geographic series, Genius. This season will focus on the life and career of the iconic singer, Aretha Franklin. In this installment, Harris will play the role of Ken Cunningham, a fashion designer and close friend of Franklin.
Alongside Harris, Cynthia Ervio of Queen Sugar will play the role of Aretha Franklin. In addition Antonique Smith and Tina Fears will join the series. Smith will play the roll of Franklin’s mother, Barbara Franklin. Meanwhile, Fears will play the role of Clara Ward, a popular Gospel singer who used to tour with Franklin’s father, Pastor CL Franklin.
Behind the scenes, Suzan-Lori Parks will act as the series’ show runner and executive producer. Clive Davis and Craig Kallman will also act as executive producers.
Genius: Aretha is set for a spring release. However, production for the series has been suspended indefinitely. National Geographic has not issued a new release date for the series as of yet.
