The entire baseball world was put into a frenzy when they found out that David Ortiz had been shot in his home country, the Dominican Republic. At first, it was suspected to be an attempted robbery where Ortiz was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now that the suspected gunman has been arrested reports have been released saying that Ramon Martinez Perez was a part of a group that was paid 400 thousand pesos for a coordinated hit on the former Red Sox slugger.

Eddy Vladimir Feliz Garcia who was arrested at the scene was charged on Tuesday as an accomplice for attempted murder. Security camera footage showed two men talking to others in a grey Hyundai Accent before getting on a motorcycle heading towards the bar.
Ortiz was hit in the lower back suffering severe internal damage, having his gallbladder and part of his intestine removed only hours after the shooting.
The court documents stated that a witness had told them Feliz Garcia met with a group of people on Sunday around 5:30 pm in his neighborhood.
Ortiz underwent two surgeries and is currently being treated at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Guess it’s pretty safe to say he won’t be in too much of a rush to get back to the Dominican any time soon.
