Steelers tailback Le’Veon Bell has been suspended for the first 4 games of the regualar season. ESPN’s Dan Graziano was the first to report the news. Le’Veon Bell will not sit on the sidelines to start the season.
The suspension is the result of a missed drug test. Bell did not fail a test however and is appealing the suspension. There is no date for Bell’s appeal and will likely be resolved prior to the regular season.
Bell was suspended for the first 3 games of the 2015 season due to a DUI and marijuana possession. That suspension was later reduced to two games so there is a chance Bell’s sentence could be reduced. In 2015 Bell rushed for 556 yards in 6 games due to a torn MCL. Pittsburgh went on to go 7-3 without his services. Bell is set to become a free agent following the 2017 season.
