Spike Lee is on a roll right now. He has an Oscar nominated movie in ‘The Blackkklansman’ and now Netflix is looking to further their partnership even more.
The streaming service is in talks with Chadwick Boseman to star in Lee’s next Netflix film titled ‘Da 5 Bloods’.
Per Variety:
Netflix is in talks to distribute the movie, with Delroy Lindo and Jean Reno also in negotiations to star.
Lee will also write the film with Kevin Willmott, based on an original screenplay by Danny Bilson & Paul DeMeo, and rewrite by Matthew Billingsly. Lee will also produce with Beatriz Levin & Lloyd Levin, and Jon Kilik.
The film follows Vietnam veterans who return to the jungle to find their lost innocence.
“To quote my brother Jay-Z from Da People’s Republic of Brooklyn ‘On to Da Next One,’” Lee said
The King of Wakanda aka Chadwick Boseman hasn’t done too bad for himself either. He’s played the iconic role of Jackie Robinson and The Black Panther and now he has the chance to be in a Spike Lee flick. Can’t make that type of story up.
In terms of the production of the film, it will most likely start a couple of months after the Oscars as Lee is on a promotional run right now. With the Award Show at the end of this month, there is a good chance this movie takes flight sooner than later.
