As the holiday season nears, Marvel is bringing fans out to the theaters with its latest film, Spider-Man: No Way Home. Led by Tom Holland and Zendaya, the film is expected to bring in approximately $220 million at the box office. If projections hold, The Hollywood Reporter says that it would be the most successful opening weekend for any film during the “COVID-19 era.” Furthermore, a $220 million performance would be one of the four best from a superhero film ever.
Spider-Man: No Way Home got off to a great start by pulling in $50 million on Thursday. Only Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: The Force Awakens have performed better during a Thursday preview period.
“The anticipation for Spider-Man: No Way Home has completely exceeded our expectations,” Cineworld CEO Mooky Greidinger told The Verge.
“We are just as excited as our moviegoers to see our favorite webslinger back on the big screen at Regal and we would like to thank our friends at Sony for delivering another amazing tentpole.”
