Six NBA Games On The Last Sunday Of The Year

Final NBA Sunday.

Say goodbye to the NBA on a Sunday in 2014! The last weekend in the NBA provided a few surprises on Sunday especially coming from a few teams and players that had some huge performances.

Detroit Pistons At Cleveland Cavaliers. Pistons pummel Cavs 103-80.

Brandon Jennings scored 25 points, and the Pistons used an 18-0 run in the second quarter to roll past the Cavaliers. Andre Drummond had 16 points and 17 rebounds for the Pistons, reserve Jodie Meeks scored 14 points, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 13. Pistons knocked down 17, 3-pointers on the night.

LeBron James had 17 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for Cleveland. Kevin Love had 20 points and 10 rebounds, Tristan Thompson also had a double-double for the Cavs, finishing with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Kyrie Irving missed his second straight game.

According to Elias Sports Bureau, the 23-point loss by the Cavaliers is the worst loss by a LeBron James team in his career against a team with a win percentage below .300 at least 20 games into the season.

Detroit Pistons are 7-23. Cleveland Cavaliers are 18-12.

Houston Rockets at San Antonio Spurs. Spurs beat Rockets 110-106.

Patty Mills’ return gave the Spurs a boost. Mills had 8 points, all in the final quarter, but the energy he provided off the bench was the spark that helped the Spurs end a 2 game losing streak. Danny Green had 24 points to help the spurs snap a 6 game losing streak against its intrastate rival, Houston Rockets. Tim Duncan had 16 points and Manu Ginobili had 15 for the Spurs. James Harden had 28 points and Dwight Howard added 24 points and 17 rebounds for Houston. The 2 newest members of the Rockets had different types of nights, Corey Brewer scored 25 points and Josh Smith only had 5 points Houston Rockets are 21-8. San Antonio Spurs are 19-13. Oklahoma City Thunder at Dallas Mavericks. Mavs beat Thunder 112-107.

Dirk Nowitzki matched his season high with 30 points, including 10 in the final 5 minutes with Chandler Parsons adding 26 for the Mavericks. Monta Ellis had 18 points and 5 assists and Rajon Rondo scored 15 with 7 assists and grabbed 6 rebounds.

Serge Ibaka led the way for Oklahoma City scoring 26 points and grabbing 10 rebounds and Russell Westbrook scored 18 points with 9 assists and 9 rebounds for the Thunder. Reggie Jackson came off the bench to score 21.

Kevin Durant missed his sixth straight game.

Oklahoma City Thunder are 15-17. Dallas Mavericks are 22-10.

New York Knicks at Portland Trail Blazers. Blazers beat Knicks 101-79.

Wesley Matthews made 6, 3-pointers and finished with 28 points to lead the Blazers on the night. Nicolas Batum had five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points, Damian Lillard scored 11 points and Chris Kaman came off the bench to score 13 and grab 9 rebounds. Knicks came into the game with 9 available players and then Carmelo Anthony went down and out with a knee injury to miss the entire second half. Melo finished with 13 points. Cole Aldrich had 12 points and a career-high 19 rebounds for New York, and Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 17 points. Quincy Acy came off the bench to score 12 points. New York Knicks are 5-28. Portland Trail Blazers are 25-7. Full game highlights.

Toronto Raptors at Denver Nuggets. Raptors defeat Nuggets 116-102.

Kyle Lowry had 30 points and 11 assists for the Raptors and Lou Williams scored 31 points off the bench. Amir Johnson scored 13 points on the night but it was the 2

Ty Lawson led Denver with 28 points, and Wilson Chandler had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Kenneth Faried had 17 points and 19 boards for the Nuggets, who have lost 3 of 4.

Toronto Raptors are 24-7. Denver Nuggets are 13-18.

Phoenix Suns at Los Angeles Lakers. Suns defeat Lakers 116-107.

The three headed point guard monster in Phoenix spoiled Kobe’s return to the Los Angeles Lakers lineup. Goran Dragic scored 24 points, Bledsoe had 20 of his 22 points after halftime and Isaiah Thomas added 15 points, off the bench, to help the Suns get their sixth consecutive victory. Markieff Morris had 12 points and 7 rebounds on the night with P.J. Tucker matching his scoring total at 12. Kobe Bryant scored 10 points but had 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Nick Young hit 4, 3-pointers and scored 21 points coming off the bench to make up for Kobe’s lack of scoring for the Lakers. Jeremy Lin added 19 points off the bench as well. Wesley Johnson scored 14 points, Ed Davis had 11 points with 8 rebounds and Ronnie Price had 10 points. Phoenix Suns are 18-14. Los Angeles Lakers are 9-22. Full game highlights.
