More than a decade ago, Jay-Z and Kanye West delivered Watch The Throne. Six years ago, Future and Drake dropped What A Time To Be Alive. Earlier this year, dvsn and Ty Dolla $ign released Cheers To The Best Memories. Joint albums are fun and in the words of Will Ferrell, they get the people going. No album has quite got people going within the last year quite like An Evening With Silk Sonic.
One year ago, Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak began flirting with the idea of working together via social media. Not long thereafter, “Leave The Door Open” arrived, the duo performed at the Grammys and fans were eager for more. Instead of pushing out a full project, the duo decided to take their time. Months later, “Skate” dropped and fans have recently made memes of “Smokin’ Out The Window.” Now, Silk Sonic feels it’s the right time to push out the full-length project.
“A good song can bring people together — you don’t have to actually sing the words ‘Everybody come together.’ Sometimes the hard thing is to actually do it. You don’t have to say, ‘Everybody raise your hands’ — sometimes you just hit the right chord and it happens,” Bruno Mars told Rolling Stone about the process of creating this album.
“So that was our mindset with the whole album.”
Tonight, fans can finally hear what the talented duo intended them to hear. Check out An Evening With Silk Sonic below.
