Hollywood is ready to shake up the stock market. Deadline has reported that Seth Rogen, Pete Davidson, Paul Dano and Sebastian Stan are set to star in Black Bear Pictures’ adaptation of Ben Mezrich’s book, The Antisocial Network. Released in September 2021, The Antisocial Network captures the GameStop stock short that shook up Wall Street.
“It’s the story of financial titans like Gabe Plotkin of hedge fund Melvin Capital, one of the most respected and staid funds on the Street, billionaires like Elon Musk, Steve Cohen, Mark Cuban, Robinhood co-CEOs Vlad Tenev and Baiju Bhatt, and Ken Griffin of Citadel Securities,” the book’s description reads.
“Over the course of four incredible days, each in their own way must reckon with a formidable force they barely understand, let alone saw coming: everyday men and women on WallStreetBets like nurse Kim Campbell, college student Jeremy Poe, and the enigmatic Keith ‘RoaringKitty’ Gill, whose unfiltered stream videos captivated a new generation of stock market enthusiasts.”
Craig Gillespie has signed on as the director of the GameStop flick with Teddy Schwarzman of Black Bear Pictures producing. Gillespie is best known for his work on I, Tonya and Cruella. He was also the director of the Hulu series, Mike.
“Black Bear has diamond hands for Dumb Money,” Schwarzman told Deadline.
“Lauren & Rebecca have masterfully adapted Ben Mezrich’s exceptional book detailing one of the greatest underdog stories of our time. Craig Gillespie is a tremendous leader with exceptional vision and has assembled a tremendous ensemble. We’re honored to partner with him, Aaron Ryder, and this terrific team in front and behind the camera to bring Dumb Money to audiences everywhere.”
The GameStop stock picture is currently in pre-production, but there is no projected release date just yet. Stay tuned for further details regarding this star-studded film.
