Members of Congress are being asked to provide their thoughts regarding the potential arrest of former President Donald Trump. Some have opted to hold back their thoughts until they are provided with more information.
“Look, the bottom line, is — as I said — it’s premature to comment on what’s happening and we’ll have to wait and see what he does,” U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer said.
Meanwhile, others have decided to offer a few more in-depth statements.
“There [are] many reasons not to support Donald Trump. There [are] many reasons why Donald Trump should not be president again of the United States but you should not allow the court system to be viewed as a political pawn,” U.S. Senator Joe Manchin said.
“I think it would basically have the reverse effect as what some people would think, not for the good.”
Former President Donald Trump finds himself in legal hot water yet again. In 2016, the former President was accused of having intimate relationships with adult film star Stephanie “Stormy Daniels” Clifford and Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal. As accusations began to mount, Trump and his associates allegedly offered Clifford and McDougal “hush money” to refrain from talking about their relationships with Trump. Two years after the accusations first emerged, Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen, was arrested for a charge related to a $130,00 payment allegedly sent to Clifford. In exchange for making the payment, Trump allegedly reimbursed Cohen for his work under a payment listed as “legal fees.” Now, the former President is being investigated for his involvement in the alleged activity.
