Amazon has announced that Selah and the Spades will premiere this spring. The new project will star Greenleaf‘s Lovie Simone and Jharrel Jerome of When They See Us. Gina Torres, Celeste O’Connor, Jesse Williams, Henry Hunter Hall and Evan Roe will also appear in the series.
As described by Amazon the film spotlights “five factions [that] run the underground life of the prestigious Haldwell Boarding School.”
“At the head of the most powerful faction – The Spades – sits Selah Summers. By turns charming and callous, she chooses whom to keep close and whom to cut loose, walking the fine line between being feared and loved,” Amazon adds.
Director Tayarisha Poe stated, “I’m thrilled that Selah and The Spades has found a home with Amazon Studios, and doubly excited to see the world of The Haldwell School expand and develop in the serial format.”
“I’d always hoped to work with a company that realized the multi-format potential of this fictional world, and truly we have found the ideal partners with Amazon,” Poe adds.
Selah and the Spades will hit Amazon Prime Video on April 17, 2020.
