Each and every year, the BET Awards provide a platform for the best and brightest Black entertainers in the world. Over the years, Prince, Charlie Wilson, Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z, Beyoncé and many others have shared their talents at the award show. Even this year, Mariah Carey, Brandy and Lil’ Wayne made time to return to the BET Awards stage. In the midst of all the stars that grace the stage, BET and Nissan team up each year to provide time for the next crop of entertainers to test the waters on the BET Amplified Stage. This year, two acts earned their way on to the special stage, GoGo Morrow and Ogi. Check out their performances below and get familiar for the next wave of talent.
GoGo Morrow
Performer: GoGo Murrow
Song(s): “In The Way”
It’s funny how things happen sometimes. Not long ago, Gogo Murrow was one of the background voices in Kanye West’s Sunday Service Choir. This year, she’s taking things into her own hands as a solo artist. As the lead act on Keny Barris’ Khalabo Music, Gogo Murrow brings a soulful, silky voice to the evolving world of R&B. Introduced to the BET Awards community by the legendary Ne-Yo, Gogo Murro performed her latest hit, “In The Way.”
Ogi
Performer: Ogi
Song(s): “I Got It”
Ogi has been on the move recently. If you’ve been keeping up with Def Pen, you know that her debut EP, Monologues, was recently featured on our site. Not long thereafter, we were watching her live at Pharrell’s Something In The Water festival. Tonight, she’s out in Los Angeles, California at the Microsoft Theater for the 2022 BET Awards. Introduced by Irv Gotti, Ogi performed her latest single, “I Got It.” Not bad for a law student who took a chance on her musical talents!
