I think it’s safe to say that Rick & Morty has been accepted into Hip Hop Culture with open arms. Run The Jewels just released a music video for their new song ‘Oh Mama’ and it featured none other then Rick & Morty themselves, blasting through aliens like badasses and basically doing an animated version of Men In Black. After Logic released his mixtape ‘Bobby Tarantino 2’ with the Adult Swim characters gracing the intro of the tape, Run The Jewels adding onto the growing list of rappers who have at least mentioned the Grandpa Rick & his nephew Morty.
Thanks to the music video, Adult Swim announced the ‘Adult Swim Festival‘ that Run The Jewels will be headlining which will be anything but your conventional music festival. According to Collider News:
“Adult Swim already does television like no one else. Now it’s time to bring that same unique approach to a one-of-a-kind festival experience,” said Jill King, senior vice president of marketing and partnerships for Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang. “The Adult Swim Festival will feature everything fans love about us…great shows, cutting edge music, and a passionate community to enjoy it all together.”
Supposedly, in addition to single day passes their will be comedy performances, merchandise and previews of all your favourite adult swim shows. There’s no telling what other musical performances and guests will come to the Adult Swim festival, but we hope this will be the first of many. Hip Hop & Def Pen approve of more Rick & Morty. As for Run The Jewels, can we get a new album please?
