Less than a full year removed from the release of fifth studio album, Nostalgia, Rod Wave is seemingly on the precipice of sharing another full body of work with the world. On Tuesday, June 18, the Florida-born singer and rapper tweeted, “[I’m] ropping some gas [on] Friday.” Not long thereafter, he followed up with a bit more information about his impending release.
“This f—g project hurt so bad, but [I’m going to give] it to y’all,” he added on Instagram.
Rod Wave is no stranger to being vulnerable with his fans. Most recently, he opened up about his most recent break-up via social media. With that said, he has also expressed a desire to make music over “Future type” production.
“Stop sending me sad a—s beats. [That] s**t [is over]. I need some Future type s—t,” he tweeted and deleted last month.
“Let’s [go],” Future’s longtime producer, Metro Boomin’, tweeted shortly thereafter.
Pairing Rod Wave’s recent tweets about “Future type” production with his most recent Instagram Stories, it’s unclear what the full project will sound like. Either way, the world will have an idea sooner rather than later.
