Whenever Phil Jackson is even mentioned by somebody in NBA circles, everybody gets giddy. It’s amazing how much someone just stops the NBA to a halt just so he can say something.
Phil rarely tweets, but when he does, EVERYONE reads it, because he’s such a master of the game he’s like a demigod.
Saying that the talks go on trying to answer “Will Phil Jackson accept the Knicks’ offer?” The job specifically is President of Basketball Operations, like Larry Bird with the Pacers.
The Knicks did earlier offer a head coaching job with the Knicks which I find disrespectful since they basically stitched Mike Woodson up with an abomination of a team but Phil immediately said no to that.
But now that word is out that they offered him the front office position and that he’ll answer sometime this week. It is now reported that the Zen Master is legitimately considering it.
According to ESPN The Magazine’s Chris Broussard to everybody’s shock, he’s leaning towards it.
The Knicks have a sense of what’s going to happen.
And as of right now, it looks like Phil’s taking the job. There’s always the possibility of something falling apart at the last minute, but the Knicks’ sense is that he’s joining them.
Now it’s obvious that Phil isn’t strapped for cash, and from what I hear he’s enjoying retirement very much. So why? Why is he considering it?
Here is why I’m so confused this actually might go down… Knicks owner James Dolan…
While Knicks owner James Dolan will pay Jackson handsomely to make basketball decisions, Dolan is still expected to maintain a voice in terms of decision-making
That scares me, the reason the Knicks are in this mess is because of him. Don’t take my word for it just watch/listen to Stephen A Smith on First Take, he’s in NBA circles, he’s a Knicks fan. The guy is killing the team.
So… If Phil goes through with this, good luck, because I wouldn’t touch the Knicks with a javelin.
