Only three years removed from the infamous inside report from Sports Illustrated, the Dallas Mavericks organization continues its cleansing of inappropriate behavior. According to The Dallas Morning News, Director of Player Personnel, Tony Rozone, is no longer with the Dallas organization.
The report stems from another Sports Illustrated inside reveal published last July. Despite Ronzone’s attorney claims from the summer brushing off the accusations as “meritless,” the report, without further details, leaves room for question.
Three years ago, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, under heavy scrutiny, followed through with the progressive and timely hiring of CEO Cynt Marshall. Since Marshall took the helm, the Mavericks have laid out a “Zero Tolerance” policy.
Following Cuban’s $10 million donations to women’s leadership and domestic-violence organizations influenced by league officials, it’s apparent the NBA has no tolerance for such atrocities.
Despite the grand gestures of the Mavericks’ organizations in its valiant efforts to provide relief in the Texas winter storm and support George Floyd’s mourners, Tony Ronzone’s termination warrants comment.
In the era of accountability, expect nothing less from the highly-regarded Marshall whenever Dallas addresses the report. Developments will come soon enough. Where there is smoke, there’s fire.
While the Dallas Mavericks have yet to confirm or deny the report, look for Def Pen to follow up with any new information.
