Regé-Jean Page will not appear in the second season of Bridgerton. Page was best known for his role as Simon Basset in the first season of the Netflix series.
“Dear Readers, while all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings,” Netflix and Shondaland stated on Friday as they revealed the news.
“We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family. Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear.”
Page is fresh off of winning the “Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series” at the 2021 NAACP Image Awards. Moving forward, Page is set to star in The Gray Man, directed by the Russo Brothers. He will also appear in the Dungeons & Dragons film from Warner Bros. Not to mention, he’s been nominated for two SAG Awards.
