RECAP: Blowouts Galore On A Packed Friday Night In The NBA

  • November 22, 2014
  • Charlie Taylor

We had some teams last night that clearly didn’t have the right hook in their arsenal. There were a lot of teams that got steamrolled last night in the NBA and I am here to cover it all for you. Let’s begin in Charlotte, North Carolina.

image

Orlando Squeeze Out A Win Against The Underwhelming Charlotte Hornets 105-100
Orlando are impressing me. They’re underdogs for most games but they really do have a decent team. Charlotte however. Are flailing, hard. They have the squad. But I think they’re relying on Lance Stephenson way too much. Even though he had a career year last season. It’s clear he’s still getting used to life in Charlotte. Move the ball through Al Jefferson until Lance finds his touch. Play of the night was this monster block by Bismack Biyombo.

Tobias Harris was the man of the night with a crazy double double. 17 points and 16 rebounds. At this rate he’s gonna have teams eating out of his hand next year.

Phoenix Destroy A Philadelphia Team Who are Now 0-12. 122-96 Final Score.
This just makes me ill to watch. I don’t want to talk about Philly anymore. Wasting the growth of legit talent. I don’t care if they win a chip in the next five years. This is just sad and terrible short term strategy.

For Phoenix it’s onwards and upwards. They’re slowly getting used to their stacked guard depth and are now finding chemistry. Isaiah Thomas is making a great case to be the 6th Man of the Year scoring a game high 23 points and 8 assists. Sacramento might be doing well without him but Thomas has clearly flourished in the desert. Seems like a win-win on both sides.

Jeff Teague Goes Off On The Poor Pistons As ATL Get The 99-89 Win
The Detroit Pistons are 3-10. Just let that sink in. If anybody can fill me in on why they’re so terrible. Feel free because I’m done trying to decipher their inability to win. For the Hawks, they keep on trucking. Jeff Teague once again shows off his underrated prowess by dropping a game high 28 points and 6 assist.

Andre Drummond. Please do me a favour and demand a trade. Your my boy and I hate watching you grab 16 rebounds but still lose games. It’s unacceptable what Detroit are doing to you.

Toronto Obliterate Over Achieving Milwaukee 124-83
Did you know the Milwaukee Bucks are 7-6? I know right?! How are they over .500?! Even though Rookie Jabari Parker got team high 16 points and 6 boards. It really wasn’t enough against the highly balanced Toronto Raptors who had both Kyle Lowry and Lou Williams scoring over 20 points. It was a routine win for the Raps.

Marc Gasol Carries Memphis To A 117-100 Win Against Boston
After the news that a stomach virus was permeating through the Grizzlies team. Boston must’ve thought it was going to be their night. But oh no it wasn’t. Enter Marc Gasol who dropped 32 points which matches his career high. Zach Randolph once again grabbed 16 rebounds on top of Gasol’s performance. Which begs the question. Are Gasol & Z-Bo the best frontcourt duo in the game right now?

San Antonio Batter Minnesota 121-92
Do I really have to talk about the Spurs? Big whoop, you beat a team without their two best offensive players, you’re so clinical!

Is it obvious I’m not the biggest Spurs fan? Nevertheless, Tony Parker got 28 points while relatively unknown Austin Daye got 13 points and 11 rebounds in a rout against Minnesota who are pretty much in the same position as OKC is. Speaking of OKC.

Brooklyn Get Lucky As They Run Out Of Chesapeake With A 94-92 Win Against OKC.
Life is looking bleak, bleak and more bleak for Oklahoma City. They’re now 3-11 which is terrible even for Eastern Conference standards. Even if Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook come back and have career years. It’ll be terribly hard to even crack the top 4 of the West. Brooklyn isn’t getting away from this one. They should’ve won this by 10. If Reggie Jackson didn’t miss the game winning three, I would be going off on the Nets. How do you have Jarrett Jack scoring 23 points off the bench but still nearly lose the game? Unacceptable!

John Wall Runs Rings Around Cleveland To Push The Wiz To A 91-78 Win
Cleveland lose their 3rd straight and are now below .500, I’m not pressing the panic button but there is a definite problem. For Washington. Now that Bradley Beal is back. It’s full steam ahead. And I’ll say this. The popular battle that people like is Damian Lillard vs Kyrie Irving (I’m in the Lillard camp). But I’ve realised something. John Wall is better than both of them. He’s the only one out of them three that carry their respective teams. I’m going to keep a close eye on Washington. They’re looking like the 2nd best in the East in my opinion.

Dallas Go On An Offensive Tear. Lakers Get Dominated 140-106
Dallas have firmly confirmed all of our suspicions, they’re legit. No bones about it. They’re cold blooded. Dropping 140 on the Lakers?! That’s just not fair! Dirk Nowitzki scores 23 points and Monta Ellis gets 10 assists. Their offensive game is near flawless.
And the Lakers. Do you really want me to talk about the Lakers? The fact that Jeremy Lin scored a team high 18 points is more than enough to say that this is a sad Lakers team.

Denver Nuggets Finally Show Teamwork And Beat New Orleans 117-97
It seems that Denver have finally found their footing. Faried is leading the team whether they like it or not. Ty Lawson is doing what he usually does and even JaVale McGee is looking good. This is a far cry from last week where people were asking for Brian Shaw’s job. Anthony Davis got 18 points and 8 rebounds. Which is not MVP form but is half decent. But considering that Anthony Davis has to get 28 and 12 a game just for New Orleans to get a W. The Pelicans are being a little too reliant on Davis.

Golden State Roll Over Utah In A 101-88 Win
I have Golden State going to the NBA Finals and at the moment. They’re looking good. But a win over Utah isn’t going to confirm all your suspicions I know that. Understandable. But you’ll all get it soon. As for the game itself it was a routine game. Or was it? Andre Iguodala led the Warriors in scoring, Enes Kanter dropped 18 points. The result may look simple but other than that this game was went a very different and interesting way.

Portland Comfortably Beat Injury-Ridden Chicago 105-87
Portland got some players back from injury while Chicago players are dropping like flys. Damian Lillard only played 26 minutes yet he dropped 21 points and 9 assists. That’s what you call comfortable. As for Chicago. Derrick Rose missed his fourth game in a row. Taj Gibson might be out due to an ankle injury. They’re at code yellow right now.
