
Rapsody releases her third studio album Eve featuring J. Cole, JID, Queen Latifah and more.
The Grammy-nominated rapper pays homage to Black women with Eve, with each track named for a different icon. Rapsody discusses the importance of celebrating these Black women and their legacies on her album with NPR.
“This album is coming out in a time where we’re really talking about what it means to be a Black woman in America, and Black women are really riding to the forefront in a lot [of] things that we do…..People are looking more to us and appreciating us more. Our voices are being heard, whether it’s a part of the political arena or in hip-hop.” says Rapsody
Aaliyah, Oprah, Tyra Banks, Maya Angelou, and Sojourner Truth are just a handful of revolutionary Black women named on the album. Rapsody even got hip-hop and entertainment icon Queen Latifah as an album guest.”Ibtihaj” the lead single features D’Angelo and GZA. Other listed features include the aforementioned JID and J. Cole, Elle Varner, PJ Morton, and, Leikeli47.
Rapsody joins Big K.R.I.T. next month on tour and will surely carry the magnitude of Eve across the country.
