Queen Naija is making her way through the R&B ranks one project at a time. Ending last year, she delivered her debut studio album, Misunderstood. Having built a following through social media, the Michigan native was able to pull in some of the biggest names in music for her first project. Russ, Kiana Ledé, Big Latto, Toosii, Jacuqees, Lil’ Durk and Lucky Daye all offered their talents for Misunderstood. Debuting at number nine on the Billboard 200, she earned 34,000 sales during her first week. Now, she’s doubling back to further capitalize on her debut album.
Queen Naija is gearing up for the release of a five-song extension of her debut album called Misunderstood…Still. As she nears the project’s release, she has rolled out its biggest release, a collaboration with Ari Lennox. Teaming up with Washington, D.C. native, Queen Naija put together the sultry, vindictive single, “Set Him Up.”
“I had so much fun recording this song with Ari! We started recording it a while back and I’m excited we were able to come together and get it finished. I know a lot of women who have actually realized they’re dating the same guy. We thought ‘Set Him Up’ would provide a fun take on this crazy kind of situation,” she told RESPECT Magazine.
Check out “Set Him Up” and prepare for the release of Misunderstood…Still later this year.
