On Monday, July 22, GRAMMY nominated artist Quavo and his philanthropic imprint, The Rocket Foundation, are set to bring teens in Atlanta, Georgia to the famous Quality Control Music Studios. Quavo and The Rocket Foundation hope the experience will give teens from the city an opportunity to “explore music production and engage with industry professionals, including audio engineers, aiming to empower and inspire future leaders.”
Quavo and The Rocket Foundation’s latest endeavor is part of their 10-week Rocket Camp. Beginning May 31 and running through July 31, Rocket Camp engages teens in the greater Atlanta area and offers trips to historically Black colleges and universities, promotes the importance of community service and provides career and entrepreneurship training. Throughout the program, participants receive “stipends, awards, and an end-of-summer celebration, all aiming to empower and inspire future leaders.”
Rocket Camp is one of many initiatives Quavo’s Rocket Foundation supports. One months ago, the nonprofit organization hosted 2024 Rocket Foundation Summit in partnership with The White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. With Vice President Kamala Harris in attendance, the event gathered community leaders and elected officials to discuss the impact of gun violence. The event concluded with Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens declaring June 18 as Takeoff Day in honor of Quavo’s nephew who was lost to gun violence.
