The Houston Rockets are looking for way to add to their roster this off-season, but before they can do that it was necessary to sign one of their own free agents.
The Rockets and Patrick Beverley agreed to a 4 year $25 million deal according to Yahoo Sports Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal comes after a lot of interest from teams seeking an upgrade at the point guard position.
Once free agency started Beverley received quite a few calls from teams in the Western Conference and Eastern Conference.
Patrick Beverley averaged 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists per game last season the main reason the Rockets made Beverley a priority is the things he does outside of the box score.
Beverley’s tenacious defense and hustle are what made him the Rockets starting point guard even though Beverley has dealt with his fair share of injuries.
The past 3 seasons Beverley has played in 153 games, and Beverley is coming off surgery on his left wrist. The Rockets could’ve used his masterful perimeter defense though more than likely in the playoffs to help slow down Stephen Curry and the Warriors.
After losing 4-1 in the Western Conference Finals the Rockets will certainly need to add talent in order to hopefully move on to the big dance next year.
The Rockets had a little competition up until the announcement of Beverley re-signing with the team as it was reported the Kings would go hard after Beverley if things fell apart in that deal.
Hopefully the Rockets are able to add more talent this off-season because their hands may be full with once again in a difficult Western Conference.
