It’s times like these where I love supporting a team where Pat Riley is president.
Tanking is the number one disease of the NBA. Number two is resting but, one at a time. The plain fact that tanking is losing in the short-term to gain in the long-term. Ah it’s aggravating to look at.
We’re in a world when the short-term is a month or two. Back in the day it used to be a year but because of the constant media coverage of everything that happens in the world. We can account for all the stupid stuff that teams that were once giants, fight for the scraps in order to gain a top 5 Draft Pick. Philadelphia especially makes me want to puke. Not the players. Sam Hinkie, the Sixers GM. For a moment I saw his plan. But those stunts he pulled on the trade deadline. Unforgivable.
Pat Riley, president of the Miami Heat sees what’s going on. And according to Bleacher Report. He could never go through with the pain of tanking.
“For me, it’s not through the draft, because lottery picks are living a life of misery. That season is miserable. And if you do three or four years in a row to get lottery picks, then I’m in an insane asylum. And the fans will be, too. So who wants to do that?”
Thank you! Mr Riley! Tanking is no fun. For everyone. Take Philly for instance. Does 5 years of trash really worth being good for a bit?
Even if the Sixers had a “Wooden’s UCLA” run. I still wouldn’t forgive that stupid bull before that. It’s not worth it.
