The tag was expected for this year as both parties are working on longterm deal.
Brown was traded by the Baltimore Ravens, the team that drafted him in the third round, for a package of draft picks including the Chiefs’ first-round pick for last year’s draft. The three-time Pro Bowler arrived at Kansas to cover a soft spot in the offensive line that was exposed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl.
NFL teams have until Tuesday afternoon to designate their franchise tag player for the offseason.
