Normani! Her name rings bells in these pop streets and it is for good reasons. After parting ways with Fifth Harmony in 2018, the budding singer-songwriter returned the following year with records like “Motivation” and “Waves” with 6LACK. While both singles and videos were nothing short of amazing, it was clear that she wanted more time to create, develop and perfect her signature solo sound. Nearly two years later, she has returned and it would be wise to pay attention.
At 25 years old, it’s safe to say that Normani is a part of the later stages of the TRL and 106th Park eras. As a result, she grew up watching labels put thousands and in some cases, millions of dollars into finely crafted visuals. Keeping that in mind, it is clear that Normani was inspired by Aaliyah’s “One In A Million” video and a few other early 2000s classics when creating the “Wild Style” visuals. Not to mention, she had the assistance of star director Tanu Muino, who helped craft the “Montero” video with Lil’ Nas X and the “Up” video with Cardi B this year.
From the choreography to the production, it’s clear that Normani has a vision and she is bringing it to life one single at a time. Check out the “Wild Style” video.
