If you’re reading this, please answer the next question honestly. Do you have a running list of songs that are far too good to be a short as they are? If you answered in the negative, you’re a liar. If you answered in the affirmative, your honesty is appreciated. At first thought, a song like “Beach Is Better” by Jay-Z may come to mind. More recently, Capella Grey has managed to dominate house parties, brunches and clubs with a song that is one minute and 46 seconds long. This month, a rising artist by the name of Nippa may have added a new entry into that running list.
Coming out of the U.K., Nippa has been buzzing for about a year or so thanks to his two singles, “Ride Or Die” and “Squeezin’ Ya.” Both tracks have a nice bounce with addictive hooks, but Nippa’s newest single, “Situation,” stands out above the rest. Once you press play, you’ll understand what I’m trying to convey. Produced by 6, TobiAitch and Nippa himself, the track has an repetitive guitar loop combined with keys that are addictive. Then, Nippa comes in with a smooth hook that is almost too good to be true.
“Is you ridin? When we sliding? If I tote this, would you hold this? Because I’m about to turn this into a situation,” he sings.
Adding to the track, the visuals are as effortless as the hook. Shot by Faces JRX, the video showcases the essence of what Hip-Hop and R&B is. Nippa is outside with his crew, laughing and having a good time. In all honesty, the only negative to this release is that it’s less than two minutes. Fortunately, there’s a replay button.
