The New Orleans Pelicans will be entering an interesting year in their rebuilding process. They took a step back last year because of the health of their franchise player and all-star Anthony Davis. He played 61 games last year for the Pelicans before they shut him down for the rest of the season. Davis was fighting through multiple injuries, including a torn labrum (shoulder ligament) that he has been playing with for 3 years. By drafting Buddy Hield to replace Eric Gordon in the backcourt, the Pelicans are looking into the future, once again back to rebuilding next year.
With Davis hopefully returning healthy to the Pelicans, New Orleans hopes to improve on a season that was filled with injury set backs.
The Pelicans will start the season at home on October 26 against the Denver Nuggets. They will face the defending champion Cavs for the first time on January 2nd. The Pelicans will have a four-game road trip to finish the season, potentially an important stretch if they are to make the playoffs.
