This is not a drill! Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter appears to be preparing for the release of a new album.
On Sunday, January 28, 2024, video direct Hidji uploaded a series of photos to his Instagram Story. Many of the photos featured him holding a camera while standing outside of a home in an undisclosed location. Then, he uploaded a photo of a text conversation between him and another unidentified person.
“Shooting today. Wya?” Hidji asked.
“I’m home bro. Who you shooting bro?” the reply reads.
“Jay-Z,” Hidji answered.
The excitement created by the text conversation was only elevated by the next photo shared to Hidji’s Instagram story. The video director posted a photo of a tail slate that includes his name, the name of camera operator Leroy Farrell and a sticker that reads, “Jay-Z — 2024 Album.”
Jay-Z has remained active within the last year by contributing to a series of high-profile collaborations. Last year, he rapped alongside Lil’ Wayne and Rick Ross on “God Did” for DJ Khaled’s latest album. More recently, he added a verse to Jeymes Samuel’s The Book of Clarence soundtrack. However, he has not personally confirmed that he will be releasing a new album later this year, but that hasn’t stopped fans from getting excited.
“This is the type of unconfirmed news I like to see! Time to end the JAY-Z drought because these one-off songs really haven’t been enough for me,” Angelina T. Velasquez tweeted.
