It’s been a pretty great week for Slovenian star Luka Doncic. On Tuesday, he put up 27 points and nine rebounds in a quarterfinal win over Kristaps Porzingis and Latvia. Then, on Thursday, Doncic submitted a near triple-double in a 92-72 win over Pau Gasol and Ricky Rubio’s Spanish team. An anonymous NBA scouting executive had some very high praise for Doncic. From Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman:
“Michael Porter Jr. and Marvin Bagley III couldn’t put up the production that Doncic is doing in a 40-minute FIBA ball-control game,” an NBA veteran scouting executive told Bleacher Report.
…
“Yes, 100 percent,” said the executive when asked if Doncic could go first. “His game is leap years above anyone. Continues to shine and impress.”
Porter Jr. and Bagley III are both terrific prospects, as is Doncic. All three have a very strong chance at being taken no. 1 overall next season.
Doncic even being in this conversation speaks volume to his talent; next year’s class is regarded as one of the best in years, and Doncic could be the top pick.
