Washington, D.C. is home to many things. Sports fans may know Washington, D.C. as the home of the 2018 Stanley Cup Champion Washington Capitals. Music fans may know Chocolate City as the home of the most innovative music festival, Broccoli City. However, the nation’s capital may soon be known as the home to the next big food festival, Midnite BBQ. This year, Def Pen’s Culture Editor, Ryan Shepard, will be heading down to the district to try some of the city’s best food and hear from some future #FirstToTheAux artists. Here’s a quick breakdown of who will be there and what is on the menu.
Who’s Performing?

Midnite BBQ is much more than food. This year’s Midnite BBQ lineup is stacked from top to bottom. Fresh off dropping her debut project, Melii is set to bring her talents down to Washington, D.C. In addition, AlunaGeorge, Saweetie, Shallou, and Keys N’ Krates are also set to take the stage. It also wouldn’t be right if the Backyard Band didn’t stop to perform in D.C. Alongside the musical acts, the Drink Champs Podcast is set to do a live show at this year’s festivities. With that being said, the liquor will be flowing, so get ready for a number of special guests to stop by.
What’s For Dinner?

It’s called the biggest BBQ in the Chocolate City for a reason. This year, Smoke Stack, DCity Smokehouse, and Ivy City Smokehouse, will be bringing out the official BBQ for everyone in attendance. Beyond the BBQ, Rolling Pizza, Roy Boys, and Dogs On The Curb will also be delivering all of your unhealthy obsessions. For dessert, Rita’s Italian Ice will also be on the scene. In short, they’ve got everything you need for the Memorial Day Weekend festivities.
