The Miami Marlins have been forced to cancel their home opener and have delayed their travel home. The organization is currently still in Philadelphia and is working to contain and identify a COVID-19 outbreak amongst their organization.
Red flags began to fly when four players had tested positive for the COVID-19 virus; however, that number is now expected to be at or above 14 Marlins players and two coaches as well. This ultimately could be deadly for the organization’s 2020 season.
Eight more players and two coaches with the Miami Marlins have tested positive for COVID-19, as an outbreak has spread throughout their clubhouse and brought the total of cases in recent days to at least 14, sources familiar with the situation tell me and @JesseRogersESPN.

The 2020 season was going to have leaps and hurdles to deal with, but an outbreak of COVID-19 could play deadly for an organization. The Marlins do have the player pool they can turn to, but replacing 14 or even more players could make things near impossible.
Things are going to get uglier before they get clearer, to say the very least. In a time where COVID-19 basically controls the fate of the season, it will soon be clear how Major League Baseball will proceed with their season. This outbreak will be a test of Major League Baseball to see how they respond and if they can bounce back from an outbreak that is decimating a team’s health.
