Clifford “Method Man” Smith Jr. revealed that he turned down a major film in a recent box office hit. During a recent interview with Jemele Hill, the Power Book II: Ghost star revealed that he had been offered the role of Stewart Pierce in Girls Trip.
“I was supposed to be that a-hole guy that [Mike] Colter played,” he told Jemele Hill on the Unbothered podcast.
As the interview progressed, Smith Jr. explained that he veered away from the role because he couldn’t relate to Pierce.
“So when I read the script, I was like I feel like I’ve gotta take a shower. It was like I couldn’t relate to the guy,” Method Man added.
“I like characters I feel like I can hang out with…But this dude was like, ugh. I didn’t like him. I’m sorry, I just didn’t like him.”
Ultimately, Mike Colter took the role, but Method Man did not rule out the possibility of playing a role in the sequel.
