It may be hard to believe, but it’s five years since Meek Mill released DC4. After a year’s worth of back and forths with Drake, Joe Budden and several other figures in hip-hop, the 14-track project marked his first step toward what would eventually be Championships. Despite the jokes many recycled on Twitter about his beef with Drake, Meek Mill’s DC4 showed that he was as sharp and dangerous as any rapper in the world at that moment. Not only did the mixtape land in the top five of the Billboard 200, but it also produced classic Meek Mill records like “Litty,” “Blue Notes” and the “Outro” with the late Lil’ Snupe.
Five years after delivering “Blue Notes,” Meek Mill has returned with its sequel. This time around, he recruited fellow Philadelphia native, Lil’ Uzi Vert. Rhyming over xander and Nick Papz production, the two take you on a late-night ride through Philadelphia on a fast-moving motorbike.
“You ain’t never been in the field with them late nights/Off Benadryl with them great whites locked in a cell,” Meek Mill raps.
“Blue Notes II” is Meek Mill’s second release in two weeks. Last week, he delivered “Sharing Locations” with Lil’ Durk and Lil’ Baby. Could he be preparing to release a new project in the near future? Only time will tell. In the meantime, check out the “Blue Notes II” video below.
