Netflix has announced per Deadline Hollywood that Marvel’s Daredevil has been canceled after it’s third season. Daredevil— the first of its Marvel shows to premiere on the platform — joins other Marvel intellectual properties Iron Fist and Luke Cage to be canned by the streaming platform.
With the lukewarm critical reception to Marvel’s The Defenders, Iron Fist and Luke Cage, the cancellation of Daredevil only weeks after the release of it’s third season comes as a surprise, especially with the high praise it had garnered from both fans and critics alike. With Daredevil canceled, it’s curious to see what Netflix decides to do with it’s remaining Marvel properties.
Only Jessica Jones and The Punisher remain on Netflix as the platform continues to shift the landscape of the status of Marvel’s television section. Netflix seems to be hellbent on cleaning house, but is there any possibility that these shows continue on the Disney exclusive streaming service titled Disney+ set to release in 2019.
