Today, millions of voters will head to the polls and cast a ballot for a candidate of their choice. In an effort to help Americans exercise their civic right, Uber and Lyft are working to provide discounted transportation to polling sites on Election Day.
Leading the way, Lyft is offering half-priced rides to polling locations on November 8. Voters can used the code, VOTE22, to get up to $10 off their ride to the polls. Lyft is also teaming up with the following organizations to offer “free or heavily discounted rides” in marginalized communities that have been impacted by voter suppression tactics: League of Women Voters, Warrior Scholar Project, League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and the NAACP.
“We believe that everyone’s voice – and vote – deserves to be heard, and transportation should never be a barrier. That’s why this Election Day, Lyft is helping more people roll to the polls with access to discounted rideshare, bikeshare, and scooter rides,” Lyft stated.
Joining Lyft, Uber is partnering with Power to the Poll in order to offer poll workers free rides to and from voting locations on November 8.
“Uber is proud to partner with Power the Polls to support our nation’s poll workers with rides to and from the polls,” CR Wooters of Uber said.
“Signing up to be a poll worker is a great way for eligible Americans to engage in civic responsibility and contribute to their communities and we are excited to help make it as easy as possible for them to get to their assigned polling location this midterm election.”
