Attorneys representing Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli have accused the Justice Department of withholding critical evidence in the ongoing college admissions scandal. The news broke through a report from USA Today, but the focus of the evidence and its importance were not identified. Still, the couple’s attorney filed a motion Friday asking the government to produce critical evidence in the form of documents
Loughlin and Giannulli are not the first to request this evidence. USA Today reports, “Attorneys for other parents in the admissions scandal have been denied similar requests for the same documents.”
Loughlin and Giannulli have been accused of paying Rick Singer $500,000 to gain their daughter’s acceptance to the University of Southern California as crew recruits. However, neither daughter plays the sport. As a result, the Justice Department charged the two with fraud, money laundering and bribery. Both parents could serve decades of prison time if convicted. However. both have plead guilty and will likely stand trial in 2020.
Neither Loughlin nor Giannulli has commented on these most recent developments.
