I called this when D’Antoni left. I said they should get Hollins in and that’s now a possibility.
According to Kurt Helin of ProBasketballTalk the Lakers will interview Lionel Hollins later this week.
Hollins was released after a spat with front office owner Robert Pera but in hindsight it was Pera in the wrong, not Hollins. Memphis took a step back after a franchise record season beating OKC and getting to the Western Conference Finals. That’s a thing of the past now and Hollins has moved on.
Personally I think Hollins is the perfect candidate for the Lakers job at this time. He’s no nonsense, has a great coaching philosophy and if he gets the job and Kobe buys in. Sky’s the limit.
