
Leigh Whannell has signed on to direct the upcoming reboot of the Invisible Man. Whannell is best know as the co-creator of the Saw franchise. More recently, the Australian filmmaker has worked on Insidious, Jigsaw and Upgrade. In addition, he’s played on-screen roles in Cooties, The Mule and more.
The films is set to be produced by Universal Pictures. Universal Pictures President of Production, Peter Cramer, said, “Throughout cinematic history, Universal’s classic monsters have been reinvented through the prism of each new filmmaker who brought these characters to life.” Cramer added, “We are excited to take a more individualized approach for their return to screen, shepherded by creators who have stories they are passionate to tell with them.”
