LeBron James And His Wife Reportedly ‘Love Los Angeles’
The aftermath of the Miami Heat’s faltered attempt at a three-peat is yet another impending free agency season for LeBron James. Though he shared after last night’s Game 5 loss that he hasn’t given it much thought yet, many expect James to opt out and become a free agent this summer, opening up a new can of possibilities for a new destination.
Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports reports,
A source said James and his wife, Savannah, love Los Angeles. LeBron James also is close with Clippers point guard Chris Paul and he admires coach Doc Rivers.
I don’t think it’s a huge spoiler that LeBron James likes it in LA, but it does add to a refreshed cycle of speculation as to if the four-time MVP might make another decision to migrate elsewhere. The conventional scenario would be for James to opt-in and work with Pat Riley on a reasonable re-construction plan, whether or not that indeed means pursuing Carmelo Anthony when he is expected to opt out of his deal with the New York Knicks.
A move to Los Angeles, per Spears’ report, would more likely be inferring LeBron to the Clippers, even though the Lakers have claimed that their search for a new head coach is based around acquiring James. A move to the Clippers might entail more of a blockbuster sign-and-trade scenario, but we know that James is pretty much set on playing with his friends, wherever he is. We also know that he isn’t going near the Clippers if Donald Sterling is still involved with the franchise.
The Cleveland Cavaliers don’t seem to want to be ruled out as contenders either. Something to consider is LeBron’s willingness to take less money for the sake of winning. He showed that willingness when he went to Miami, and with his level of endorsements, a large market like Los Angeles wouldn’t stain his pockets a bit.
