Latto is the lead of Planned Parenthood’s most recent public service announcement regarding abortion rights across the United States.
“We already know who’s going to be hurt the most by these ridiculous abortion bans: Black women, Brown women, the LGBTQ+ community, and communities with low incomes,” the Georgia native said.
“Because of this country’s history of racism and discrimination, these folks already have a hard time getting the health care they need. We all deserve to be safe and it’s every person’s right to make decisions about their own bodies.”
Latto has never shied away from the topic of abortion rights in the United States. Earlier this year, she released a new track called “P*ssy.” Featuring artwork that prominently highlights the nation’s highest court, the single discusses the Supreme Court’s recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
“I ain’t your property,” she raps.
“The gender roles y’all projecting the hypocrisy/Half of y’all p*ssy n*ggas owe your mama an apology/How you ain’t got a p*ssy, but got opinions on p*ssy?”
Latto also expanded upon her push for abortion rights access during an interview with Billboard. As midterm elections near in November, she encourages others to vote for “candidates that push forward our right of choice.”
“It’s a human right to control your own body. This is not just one person or group’s fight; we should all be shouting how unjust this is and supporting the right for someone to decide what happens to their body,” she explained.
“I want to see men supporting by protesting alongside women and voting for candidates that push forward our right of choice.”
